Journeys to careers in aviation can be diverse and wide and mine is no exception. Having served as a prosecutor and trial lawyer in Texas and Washington for 10 years, I ventured back to my original passion of flying and couldn’t be happier to be given the opportunity to instruct at Rainier. I hope to provide quality flight instruction with each lesson providing customers a depth of technical knowledge to ensure safety while instilling a joy for the unique opportunity to fly.
Early on, after earning a baseball scholarship and subsequently playing NCAA Division I through college, following graduation, I earned two aviation scholarships to help pay for early ratings while also working full time. I then attended law school in Texas where I interned with the American Airlines legal department and always intended to return to aviation when the time was appropriate. After serving as a prosecutor in Texas, I then completed my pilot ratings and aircraft dispatcher certificate while working as a prosecutor in Washington.
Having rekindled my love for aviation, I then made the decision to leave law and pursue flying and flight instructing full time. While others may question my decision to leave a good career, I can only say that you have one life to live and pursuing your true passion will leave you with no regrets. When not flying I’m happily maintaining a 6 acre farm that’s been in my family for nearly 60 years where I’ve raised blueberries and a variety of animals over the years. Nothing is more important than spending time with my wife and family and I thank them for their continued support.
