I grew up in a small town where hunting and fishing was almost required. Sports after school and adventuring on the weekend. I found my way to Central Washington University over in Ellensburg where I worked hard and was able to cram four years of college into six years.
During that time, I took up some hobbies like bicycling, walking across countries, and shearing sheep. When I was 21, I convinced myself that I could take my bicycle all the way across America… Solo…
I mean, why not?
But how the heck was I going to afford to do that? I was still going to college and trying to live off top ramen and ketchup packets. Not a great way to live, trust me. Then one day, I had the opportunity to earn some money by Shearing someone’s sheep. Perfect! I’m broke, and that’ll pay for a bike trip. As it turns out, I got pretty good, and built a business for myself. Along the way, I competed at The Calgary Stampede sheep shearing contest and got the big belt buckle.
(Yep, they have sheep shearing competitions)
But let’s be honest, everyone knows that flying airplanes is a lot more fun than shearing sheep. So that’s what I did, I bought myself an old 172, got my Private Pilot License, learned how to work on airplanes, and met some amazing people along the way.
And now that I am a Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, and Multi Engine Instructor, I’m lucky enough to call Rainier Fight Services home. I am looking forward to hearing your story and how I can help you along the way, wherever aviation may take you.
Let’s go flying.
