Growing up on Camano Island, I used to watch military jets fly overhead to the Whidbey Naval Air Station every day. My dad, a Boeing aerospace engineer, would always tell me what they were and what made this or that jet different from the other jets. They were nothing but a blur to him without his glasses, but somehow he always managed to get the type right. His excitement sparked a passion in me that didn’t awaken until my 20s. I attended the University of Washington, pursuing political science, with an ultimate goal of practicing law. I decided to explore a few other options before committing to law school and ended up trying a discovery flight with Rainier Flight Service. Though I had a clear career path in front of me, that first solo flight changed everything — I was hooked. Taking to the skies inspired a sense of liberation that I had never felt before, so I continued to train and accomplish all of my ratings with RFS. Learning from the brilliant and passionate instructors here has been a great privilege,, and my goal now is to pay forward the knowledge and techniques I gained to you – the next generation of pilots! Outside of flying, you’ll probably find me playing classical piano, taking care of my motorcycle and RX7 FD, or enjoying time on the Sound with watersports
