I grew up nearby in Maple Valley, with my parents coming from South Africa shortly before I was born. I speak Afrikaans and try to go visit the rest of my family in South Africa yearly.

I went to Boise State University for a degree in Biology before making the career change to aviation. My flight training took place in Idaho - until returning to Washington for CFI .

My passion for aviation started at a young age building model airplanes with my father and going to the museum of flight for birthday parties. 

I love the outdoors - from SCUBA diving to rock climbing, backpacking and snowboarding - I enjoy what the pacific northwest has to offer.
